Hi, I’m Maryam
I started Zaha because I deeply value holistic psychotherapy that favours transformation from the inside out. I value creating a safe space that lets you re-embrace the fragmented parts of yourself so you can grow into your full and true self compassionately. As someone with deep wounds, therapy has been life-changing for me, and I hope to bring good change to others lives.
I’m an autistic, Somali-Yemeni, Muslim Registered Psychotherapist who works with adults navigating trauma, identity, neurodivergence, and longing for belonging. I grew up feeling like the world wasn’t built for people like me and I’ve made it my mission to change that.
My approach to therapy is both mind and heart based. I integrate experiential trauma therapies like AEDP and Coherence Therapy, along with somatic awareness, cultural sensitivity, and spirituality. I believe symptoms aren’t random, and we’re not suffering for a lack of trying. My job is to help you process what you suffered and collaborate on finding what it is that you learnt from that suffering, and how it may be running your life now.
I love holding space for complexity, emotion, and the fundamental human need to be seen and understood. I’m especially passionate about working with people who:
Have always felt different or alienated
Carry many intersecting identities
Like uncovering deeper meanings behind patterns
Want to make sense of their pain and find their purpose in life
Need therapy that’s spiritually and physically integrated
Clients often come to me for support with:

Neurodivergence (autism, ADHD)
